Mitsuo Yanagisawa (柳澤 光央 Yanagisawa Mitsuo) is a freshman who studies law in a private university in Tokyo. He is Kouko Kaga's former crush and Banri Tada's best friend.

Appearance

Mitsuo New

Mitsuo with blonde hair.

Mitsuo is a handsome young man with dark blue hair that has long strands hanging over his face and light blue eyes.

In Episode 7, he cut his hair a little and dyed it blond after he was rejected by Chinami Oka, but he keeps it that way for the rest of the series.

Personality

Mitsuo is a good man and has a mature nature. He is easily distracted, as seen when he found people who followed him. At first, he finds the personality of Kouko Kaga extremely annoying. However, he mentions "they are still childhood friends" and even worries about her sometimes, as displayed when he sent texts showing his concern when Kouko was "kidnapped" by the religious cult.

Plot

After bumping into him at a convenience store, Mitsuo and Banri Tada soon become friends. While walking to college with Banri, Kouko Kaga stepped out of a taxi and slapped Mitsuo on the face with a rose bouquet, congratulating him for being accepted into college. Arriving at college Kouko Kaga introduces herself as a new student at the grounds, as well as declaring herself Mitsuo's fiance.  In class, Mitsuo goes on to explain their history to Banri, even declaring that he dislikes Kouko's attitude, not knowing that she is sitting right behind them, causing him to run at the sound of the bell.

Mitsuo met Chinami Oka in the Film Club and he was immediately romantically interested in her after he gets to know her more. Though, Kouko's persistent attitude prevented him from approaching her at first - until Mitsuo invited Kouko and Banri to a cafe where he rejected Kouko's feelings for him outright, stating that he wanted to get romantically involved with Chinami. This caused Kouko to have a grudge against Mitsuo (which slowly disappeared after she started dating Banri), and Banri to sympathize with Kouko. When Kouko, Banri and Mitsuo were invited to a Film Club party that Chinami was organizing, Kouko provoked Mitsuo by saying he could never confess his feelings to her, no matter what he says otherwise. Of course, Mitsuo insisted that he could and confessed his feelings to Chinami right in front of Kouko, saying that he loved her and wanted to go out with her. However, Chinami responded with a smile, saying: "Don't be stupid." When he was rejected on the spot, everyone at the Film Club party secretly laughed at the heartbroken Mitsuo and he couldn't even face Chinami without running away for a while, Chinami later told her friends she only rejected him because she didn't want to be asked out at a party, but later they make amends while staying as friends.

Although this hasn't been confirmed, it was hinted that he was interested in Linda. Later, Banri and Mitsuo talk about how they knew about Mitsuo and Linda, and Mitsuo confronts Banri about his past with Linda, but while Banri considers answering him honestly, Mitsuo backs off, but still has his doubts. Much later, Mitsuo gets permission to film the Festival Club, but Linda is unhappy and Mitsuo never gets a chance to talk with Linda. Afterwards, Linda indicates that she wants to talk with Banri and Koko goes to distract Mitsuo in the meantime. Linda and Banri argue about Mitsuo coming to the club, and they end up discussing it calmly later on. Linda reveals their dinners together, but also how she's been unable to simply accept Mitsuo's interest in her and has been keeping her distance from him, which is why they had this argument. Later, after Banri and Linda have a huge argument about his breakup with Koko and their past lifes, Mitsuo walks in on them and Banri reveals to Mitsuo his past relationship with Linda and apologizes for not telling him. Linda admits she was in on it as well. Mitsuo is angered about this and questions why he didn't tell him about this, but this is cut off when Koko appears as she hands over a letter of resignation from the club to its president. Banri cuts her off, causing her to leave and Banri goes after her, while Linda is left crying after the fight, Mitsuo on the other is left hurt and betrayed by the fact that Banri kept this secret about his and Linda's past from him.

Since then, he starts avoiding Banri, when he tries to patch things up with Mitsuo, who had not contacted him since he revealed to Mitsuo his past with Linda. Koko is able to locate Mitsuo and convinces him to talk to Banri and they wait for him at the street. Mitsuo apologizes for his behavior, saying it was too much for him to handle knowing about Banri and Linda's past and needed time to cool off, but is ready to talk to him. However unknown to him, Banri suffers another memory break during this and fails to recognize them and runs away. During their school festival, the festival club receives support from the private school committee thanks to Mitsuo. Meanwhile, Banri and Mitsuo both reconcile with each other. Mitsuo tells him that Koko told him everything that had happend with him and that he lost sight of him, but that he was able to find him and tells him he will always be watching him and wating for him so he won't disappear.

Unknown to him, Chinami secretly falls in love with Mitsuo when she discovers that he is romantically interested in Linda. From that point on, Chinami begins to act differently and quite out-of-character, especially around Mitsuo. Chinami even has her hair cut short, possibly in an effort to be more like Linda, as Chinami does not want to lose Mitsuo to Linda, but later regrets cutting her hair, after having it so long for her entire life. She realized that she doesn't want Mitsuo to with someone else, and she only acted selfish, because she wants him to herself, but her actions failed in vain, as Mitsuo never notices her or figures out that she's in love with him. Since she never confesses her feelings to him, it leaves the matter between them unresolved, as Mistuo is still in love with Linda by the end of the series.
